Marco & Markus on the Wembley DVD

After the 2000-tour I moved for one year to Paris, France in order to continue my studies in economics. There is absolutely no reasonable explanation why the Wembley-DVD was released in France earlier than in the rest of the world. I went to FNAC in the afternoon and suddenly, I saw the DVD in the store. I simply could not believe it because I did not know anything about the release at all. Well, as soon as I was at home I checked the messages from the fanclub and no one else had sent an email about the DVD and after I had spread the news around, apparently nobody already had the disc. I still have to think about this situation and the night that followed when I have the DVD case with the French blurb in hand.

What I love most about our contributions to the DVD is the fact that you have a fine proof how they mixed the two evenings onto one single film. Obviously, it is possible for me to be directly next to Markus and to Reinhard while Markus is either next to me or behind me and Reinhard´s friend from London is appearing and disappearing from one song to the next.

Yes, yes, the famous "Let´s stay together"-drama. What else can I contribute to all your jokes, funny remarks and critical advice for my professional carreer as a snake-man? I love the song, I love the woman, so what? - Here are the best moments of "the boy who had too many hands during one love song".

Hello, hello, this is what we call a scenic overview in broad daylight. Look at all these people, and there is little Marco standing in awe in front row and looking up to the diva herself.

It was no wonder that we have two of these spectacular camera shots in the Wembley video because one of the cameras resp. its arm (which was moving as fast as a leg) was directly in front of us and appeared suddenly out of nowhere or was bumping up and down. Two of these shots are now in the film and you can see us nearly from the worm's-eye view to the bird's-eye view before a bright and a dark background.

We were diving for several minutes during "Proud Mary" as so many other fans during the tour but the camera man thought that our performance was the most impressing one - or the most suitable for children, I don´t know. Years later, in 2008, this fraction of a second will make it to the Ticketmaster commercial for the US Tour. Here is the original footage of Markus & Marco diving and rolling on the river.

Never before I was filmed in such a masculine way. I had to watch this scene over and over again: but yes, it is me in full flight during "Twenty four seven".

Making of

Markus and me, we make a special apperance in the Making of. Immediately after this scene I tried to reach him by phone but he was not at home so I could only speak to the answering machine - the poor thing. I had written TINA on his forehead and it was his turn to prepare me for the show while Christine, the video director, was on stage in order to make some tests and mysterious never-before-seen experiments with a camera. Suddenly, she saw us standing there, waved and pointed to the camera. Of course, as long-term professionales, we smiled and Markus waved and we were wondering what they would do with this useless but funny moment. As soon as I saw the Making Of I knew what they had done with it - and I think it fits very well into the whole little film, doesn´t it?
